Sprite Yoga was founded by yoga teacher and dancer Tamsin in 2011. Tamsin practiced various forms of yoga (Iyengar, Astanga and Vinyasa) alongside her career as a professional dancer and dance teacher for twenty years.  She was finally persuaded by Mark Freeth of  The Freestyle Yoga Project to complete her 200hr yoga teacher training in 2008. She then spent four years living in France teaching regular yoga classes and retreats in the French Alps. Many of her clients there were athletes using yoga as a way to cross train and stay injury free. Since returning to the UK Tamsin has divided her time between bringing yoga to schools and working with adults in group classes and private sessions. She feels privileged to be sharing the benefits of yoga with a full range of ages from 5 to 75. Having now passed the threshold of 3000 hrs of yoga teaching she is accredited as a Chartered Level 2 Instructor with Yoga Alliance Professionals. Other qualifications include a BA Honours degree in Music, Drama and Dance from the University of Birmingham, a Post-Graduate Certificate from London Contemporary Dance School in Dance Performance and Choreography and a PGCE.

Group Classes:

Tamsin promotes the value of yoga to support and maintain good all round health and wellbeing.

Whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned yogi, a cyclist or runner or are generally to be found sitting at a desk, classes can be tailored to your needs. Sprite Yoga's regular classes will challenge you to move well and free your body from habitual tensions. Each class has a different focus so that you remain mentally present, but at the heart of the approach is the use of breath, core stability, good alignment, efficiency and grace. Modifications are offered to ensure that beginners and those with more experience are welcome.

Yoga in Schools Programme:

Tamsin continues to develop Sprite Yoga's Yoga in Schools programme and is supported by Brighton Yoga Foundation and Brighton and Hove Council.

Sprite Yoga currently delivers a regular yoga provision in primary, secondary and post- 16 education within the school PE curriculum, as after-school activities and as staff wellbeing.


Vocational Teacher Training:

Sprite Yoga offer two types of course, one specifically designed to prepare you to teach yoga to Primary aged children, the other to teach the Secondary to Post 16 age range.

All courses are taught by Tamsin, as an accredited trainer for Yoga Alliance Professionals with over 20 years experience working in education and 10 years working through yoga with young people aged 3 to Post 16.

Both courses are in-depth trainings with 40 hours contact time and are accredited as 60 hour vocational trainings by Yoga Alliance Professionals. If you are a qualified yoga teacher or a professional working in an educational establishment on completion of our course you will be eligible to become a member of Yoga Alliance Professionals.

13 - 18 Years

Yoga is a healthy activity accessible to all young people. Starting young can influence healthy lifestyle choices with benefits including: improving posture, reducing anxiety and helping young people to relax and form better sleeping patterns. Tamsin has 20 years experience working within schools and FE and is keen to bring yoga to the next generation. The classes find a good balance between being challenging, dynamic and fun and giving time and space to unwind.

Re-balance and re-set on a Monday evening, however you've spent your weekend. You might be a weekend warrior, in which case this is an ideal way to support your activities and help with injury prevention, or have spent too much time on the couch and are in need of a good old stretch out and unraveling. Newbies to yoga particularly welcome.

Join us at this peaceful, scenic, accessible venue in Cooksbridge. Literally a few short minutes drive from Lewes and a large FREE CAR PARK. The space has underfloor heating generated by a wind turbine You can even run around the field first if you are feeling lively! A sequence based class to challenge your core stability, your balance and to gently open every part of you. In the summer months we head outside to take advantage of the beautiful natural surroundings. New students welcome.

Friday 10.00am - 11.00am from your own home ZOOM only


This is a slower paced class, a little later in the morning, particularly programmed at the end of the week so that you can release tension, de-stress and slow down before the weekend. We will still get moving with gentle sun salutations, but concentrate more time on seated and reclining postures. We end with a longer relaxation and yoga nidra or guided meditation. Suitable for beginners.

Its very seductive to fall into the ageism trap that says I can no longer do 'that', whether it's pigeon, plank, or starting a campaign to increase biodiversity! I would literally never stretch myself like that if I didn't come to class. It makes me feel full of life and deeply calm at the same time.

As an ultra trail runner Tamsin's yoga classes have been indispensable for caring for my equilibrium. Trail running in the mountains puts huge stress on the muscles and on knee joints particularly. Tamsin's specific methods can focus on the muscles and joints used for running by strengthening and stretching them. Since I started I have had no knee or back problems after running. Even after doing the Diagonale des Fous 171km I had no pains anywhere, before, during or afterwards...!! Miraculous! I would recommend Tamsin's yoga methods to any athlete.
